no of lines when no three points are collinear.

if we have n points, then the number of lines will be the number of ways of choosing 2 points out of n points. and in this type of choosing questions, we use the combination method of permutation and combination topic

the formula for combination for choosing r points out of n is = nCr = (n!)/(n-r)!r!

where n! = n x (n-1) x (n-2) ......... 2 x 1

here n=10 and r=2

nCr = 10C2 = 10! / (8!)(2!)

10 x 9 x 8!/2 x 8!

10 x 9/2
