Lets consider figure a

perimeter = sum of all sides

= 24 + 10 + 5 + 5

= 44cm

sorry i dont know the area of figure a

Lets consider figure b

The sides of all the triangle will be equal as it is constructed around a square.

(all sides of a square will be equal. Hence, all sides of the triangle will also be equal.)

So, perimeter = 8 x 4

= 32cm

Area of figure b = area of all the triangles + area of the square inside

We only have to find the area of 1 triangle as all the other triangles will also be equal.

Area of the triangle will be 6.9cm

= 7cm (rounded)

= There are 4 equal triangles around the square.

= total area = 7 x 4

= 28cm²

Now lets find out the area of the square.

= area of a square = a²  (where a is the side)

= 4²

= 16cm²

Area of the figure b = 16cm² + 28cm²

= 44cm²
