The perimeter of the square = 268 cm

Given :

The area of a square is 4489 sq.cm

To find :

The perimeter of the square

Formula Used :

For square of side a unit

The area of the square = a² sq.unit

The perimeter of the square = 4a unit

Solution :

Step 1 of 3 :

Form the equation to calculate length of the side of the square

Let length of the side of the square = a cm

∴ The area of the square = a² cm²

By the given condition

a² = 4489

Step 2 of 3 :

Calculate length of the side of the square

a² = 4489

⇒ a² = 67²

⇒ a = 67

∴ The length of the side of the square = 67 cm

Step 3 of 3 :

Calculate the perimeter of the square

We know that for a square of side a unit the perimeter of the square = 4a unit

The length of the side of the square = 67 cm

∴ The perimeter of the square

= 4 × 67 cm

= 268 cm
