Find the perimeter of the rectangle whose length is 40 cm and a diagonal is 41cm

We will use the concept of Pythagoras theorem.

The diagonal divides the rectangle into two right angles with height equals to the width and base equal to the length.

By Pythagoras theorem, the relationship is as shown below :

40² + w² = 41²

w ² = 41² - 40²

w² = 81

w = √81

w = 9

Perimeter = 2w + 2l

2 × 9 + 2×40 = 98cm
