Solution:

Circumference of a circle = 2πr

Perimeter of the shaded region = AD+CB +length of the arc DPC +Length of the arc APB

We have AD = CB = 14cm

Length of the arc DPC = circumference of the semicircle DPC

= πr

= 22cm

Length of the arc APB = circumference of the semicircle APB

= πr

= 22cm

Perimeter of the shaded region = 14+14+22+22

= 72cm

∴ The perimeter of the shaded region = 72cm
