hey there here is your answer...

perpendicular distance from any point to x-axis = |y|
then perpendicular distance from point p(4,6)
= |6| = 6.
hope it helps.....

Given:

point P(4,6) from x axis.

To find:

perpendicular distance of the given two points.

Solution:

1) To find the distance between two points we can use the distance formula given by:

\sqrt{(x1-x2)^{2}+ (y1-y2)^{2}  }

2) In this question (x1,y1) is (4,6) and (x2,y2) is (4,0) because point is at y axis and perpendicular from the point (4,6).

\sqrt{(4-4)^{2}+(6-0)^{2}  } = 6

Perpendicular distance of point P(4,6) from x axis 6 units.
