let the points be (x,y)

then according to section formula

$x = \frac{mx2 + nx1}{m + n}$

here, x2 = -6, x1 = 1

m = 2 , n = 1

y2 = -3 , y1 = 7

$x = \frac{2 \times ( - 6) + 3 \times (1)}{2 + 3}$

$x = \frac{ - 12 + 3}{5}$

$x = \frac{9}{5}$

also

$y = \frac{my2 + ny1}{m + n}$

$y = \frac{2 \times ( - 3) + 3 \times 7}{2 + 3}$

$y = \frac{ - 6 + 7}{5}$

$y = \frac{1}{5}$

$hence \: x = \frac{9}{5} \: and \: y = \frac{1}{5}$
