the pressure at the depth h1 = P1 = 3 * 10⁵ N/m²
pressure at the depth h2 = P2 = 5 * 10⁵ N/m²

Pressure exerted by a liquid (density d) column at a depth h, = d h g
So pressure is directly proportional to the depth in a liquid.

Hence ratio = h1 / h2 = P1 / P2  = 3/5 = 0.6

agrawal: i am sorry but your answer is wrong its 1/2 i.e. 0.5
kvnmurty: you are wrong agarwal. pressure is proportional to depth. there must be a typing mistake in your book where u checked your answer. you will go wrong if you take it as 0.5
kvnmurty: click on thank you pls
agrawal: there is no mistake . there is nothing wrong in accepting your mistake
shivam2000: Pressure in a fluid is inversely proportional to the depth
TPS: The answer is fine.
And shivam, pressure is directly proportional to depth in a fluid.
agrawal: true tps and no need to argue... And if you want now i can give you the answer and the question is absolutely correct and is of iit level
