Given,

Coordinates of the endpoints = (-3,10) and (6,-8)

Coordinate of the dividing point = (-1,6)

To find,

The ratio of the divided segments.

Solution,

We can simply solve this mathematical problem by using the following mathematical process.

We can find the length of the distances between two endpoints and the dividing point and the ratio of those two distances will be our answer.

Length of first segment = √(-3+1)²+(10-6)² = √(-2)²+(4)² = √(4+16) = √20 = √4×5 = 2√5 units

Length of the second segment = √(6+1)²+(-8-6)² = ✓(7)²+(14)² = √(49+196) = √245 = 7√5 units

Ratio = 2√5 / 7√5 = 2/7 = 2:7

Hence, the ratio is 2:7
