Heya !!
Let the ratio be k : 1
By section formula,
(x, y) = [ (kx2 + x1) / (k+1) , (ky2 + y1) / (k+1) ]
(4, m) = [ (6k + 2) / (k+1) , (-3k + 3) / (k+1) ]
So, 4 = (6k + 2) / (k+1)
=> 4k + 4 = 6k + 2
=> 6k – 4k = 4 – 2
=> 2k = 2
=> k = 1
That is, the ratio is 1 : 1.
Now, putting k = 1 in y coordinate
m = [-3(1) + 3] / (3 + 1)
=> m = -3+3 / 4
=> m = 0
