let the ratio be m1:m2

let A(-3,10) and B(6,-8) be the points divided by C(-1,6)

By using section formula I.e..

x = m1.x2 + m2.x1 / m1 + m2

-1 = m1.-8 + m2.-3 / m1 + m2

-1 = -8m1 - 3m2 / m1 + m2

-1 (m1 + m2) = -8m1 -3m2

-m1 - m2 = -8 m1 -3 m2

8m1 -m1 = -3m2 + m2

7m1 = -2m2

m1/m2 = 2/7

therefore, m1 : m2 = 2:7
