let the ratio be k:1

if line joining the point (x1,y1) and the point(x2,y2) is divided by x axis (where y=0) in ratio k:1,

[ given, (x1,y1) = 6,3 and (x2,y2) = 3,-5 ]

Then y = 0  = (k.y2 + y1) / (k+1)

(-5k + 3)/(k+1) = 0

k = 3/5
