Let the line segment joining A and B points divides x-axis in the ratio k : 1.

If coordinates of y, P(x, 0) compared,

k×+1×(−5)/k+1= 0

5k – 5 = 0

∴ k = 1

∴ Ratio will be k : 1 = 1 : 1

∴ Point P(x, 0) is the mid-point of line segment AB.

∴ x = 1−4/21−42 = −3/2

∴ Dividing point, P (−32−32, 1)
