Find the ratio in which the y-axis divides the line segment joining the point (2, 7) and (-1, -4). Also find the point of intersection.

so putting it in the section formula

X =  ( mx2 - nx1 / m+n )

x= (k(-1) - 1(2) / k+1

as the point is on y axis so x axis will be 0 so putting x = 0

0 = -k-2/k+1

solve to get k = -2

ratio is 2:1

by section formula now we can find value of y
