H2O ( Atomic mass of Hydrogen = 1u and Atomic mass of Oxygen = 16u)

Therefore, Molecular mass of Water :

H × 2 + O × 1

1 × 2 + 16 × 1

2 + 16 = 18 u

HNO3 (Atomic mass of Hydrogen = 1u, Atomic mass of Nitrogen = 14u and Atomic mass of Oxygen = 16u)

Therefore, Molecular mass of Nitric acid :

H × 1 + N × 1 + O × 3

1 × 1 + 14 × 1 + 16 × 3

1 + 14 + 48

15 + 48 = 63 u
