Find the remainder in each of the following cases: (1) when (2x⁴-6x³+2x²-x+2) is divided by x+1. (2) when √3x³-5x(x-√2)-√6(x²+2)+2√3(x+2) is divided by (x-√2).

Answer:

If x + 2 = 0

x = -2

f(x) = 2x4 – 6x3 + 2x2 – x + 2, [By remainder theorem]

f(x) = 2(-2)4 – 6(-2)3 + 2(- 2)2 – (- 2) + 2

= 2(16) – 6(- 8) + 2(4) + 2 + 2

= 32 + 48 + 8 + 2 + 2 = 92

Hence, required remainder = 92
