ANSWER :

Remainder = -(15/16)

EXPLANATION :

GIVEN :

A function f(x) = x⁴ + 2x³ - 3x² + x - 1 is divided by (1 - 2x).

TO FIND :

REMAINDER

SOLUTION :

Root of (1 - 2x) will satisfy the function –

=> 1 - 2x = 0

=> 1 = 2x

=> x = ½

Now put x = ½ in given function –

=> f(½) = (½)⁴ + 2(½)³ - 3(½)² + (½) - 1

=> f(½) = (1/16) + (¼) - (¾) - ½

=> f(½) = (5/16) - (5/4)

=> f(½) = -(15/16)

▪︎ Hence , Remainder is -(15/16) .
