concept : if any polynomial f(x) is divided by another polynomial, x - a, then remainder will be f(a).

here we have to find remainder if P(x) = x³ + 2x² + 4x + 3 is divided by the polynomial x - 1.

then, remainder must be , P(1) = (1)³ + 2(1)² + 4(1) + 3

= 1 + 2 + 4 + 3

= 10

hence, remainder will be 10.

another method :

x - 1 ) x³ + 2x² + 4x + 3 ( x² + 3x + 7

x³ - x²

-----------

3x² + 4x

3x² - 3x

------------

7x + 3

7x - 7

-----------

10

hence, it is clear that remainder will be 10.
