Given an expression P(x) and divisor (x-a), you can find remainder by putting x=a in P(x).
Here,
P(x) = x^3 - 3x^2 + 3x - 1 and
(x-a) = (x-1/2) or a=1/2
Therefore, remainder =
(1/2)^3 - 3(1/2)^2 + 3(1/2) -1
=1/8 - 3/4 +3/2 - 1
=(1-6+12-8)/8
=-1/8 [Answer]
