It means that the double bond b/w the carbons of the resonance is moving and not fixed  

And methoxide is attached to it oxygen is having one bond with CH3 and another bond with carbon of benzene

Answer: WE CONSIDER THE LENGTH OF SINGLE BOND AS 134 PM AND OF DOUBLE BOND AS 133 PM

                                                BUT  

RESONANCE HYBRID IS THE STRUCTURE OF BENZENE IN WHICH  THE LENGTH OF THE BONDS BETWEEN CARBON AND CARBON IS 138 PM

(EXPREMENTALLY IT IS OBSERVED THAT ALL ARE OF SAME LENGTH )

SO IN RESONANCE HYBRID STRUCTURE BOND LENGTH OF CARBON

CARBON  BOND IS DIFFERENT  FROM THE OTHER STRUCTURE RESONANCE STRUCTURE
