Answer:

Step-by-step explanation:

x² +4x-5

=(x)²+2×x²+(2)²-(2)²-5=0

(x+2)²-4-5=0

(x+2)²=9

x+2=+ or-\sqrt{9}

x=+ or -3-2

x= -3-2  ,  3-2

The roots of the quadratic equation are 1 or -5.

Step-by-step explanation:

Given : Quadratic equation x^2+4x-5=0

To find : find the roots of quadratic equation by completing the square method ?

Solution :

Quadratic equation x^2+4x-5=0

We have to add and subtract the square of half of the coefficient of x,

i.e. \frac{4}{2}=2

So,  x^2+4x-5+(2)^2-(2^2)=0

Applying identity, (a+b)^2=a^2+b^2+2ab

(x+2)^2-4-5=0

(x+2)^2=9

Taking root both side,

x+2=\pm 3

 x+2=3  or  x+2=-3

 x=1  or  x=-5

Therefore, the roots of the quadratic equation are 1 or -5.
