Given equation : 2x² + 9x - 56 = 0
⇒ 2x² + 16x - 7x - 56 = 0
⇒ 2x(x + 8) - 7(x + 8) = 0
⇒ (x + 8) ( 2x - 7) = 0
⇒ (x + 8) = 0   or   (2x - 7) = 0
⇒ x = -8   or   2x = 7
⇒ x = -8   or   x = 7/2
∴ x = -8 , 7/2
