\huge\pink{Solution}

2x² + x - 4 = 0

a = 2 , b = 1 , c = -4

using formula method

\huge\boxed{D ={b}^{2} - 4ac}

D = (1)² - 4 × 2 × -4

D = 1 + 32

D = 33

Therefore , roots of the eq. are real and distinct.

To find the roots ,

x = \frac{ - b \sqrt{D}}{2a} \\ \\ x = \frac{-1 ±\sqrt{33}}{2 × 2} \\ \\ x = \frac{-1\sqrt{33}}{4}
