Hi Disley,
Your answer is
LENGTH OF LARGER SQUARE = 14 CM
ITS AREA = 14² = 196 CM
LENGTH OF PR = 14 - 3 - 3 = 8 CM
SIDE OF THE SQUARE = 2 CM
AREA OF SMALLER SQUARE = 2² = 4 CM
AREA OF 4 SEMICIRCLES WITH RADIUS 3/2 CM = 4 × πr² = 4 × 3.14 × 9/4 = 28.26 cm²
AREA OF SHADED REGION = AREA OF LARGER SQUARE - [ AREA PF SMALLER SQUARE + AREA OF 4 SEMICIRCLES ]
= 196 - [ 4 + 28.26 ]
= 196 - 32.26 = 163.74 CM ²
Hope it helps
