The van der Waal's equation of state for a real gas is: (P + n2a / V2)(V- nb) = nRT. To convert 'a' into atm L2/mol2 multiply by 0.986 atm/bar.

(p + a \frac{ {n}^{2} }{v {}^{2} } )
I know this is not the full formula but u don't require it to solve
so now if u know done basic concepts of units and measurement
U know that we can add only quantities with same units so an^2/v^2 needs to have same unit as of pressure
Pressure has the unit atm
v^2 has the unit m^6
n^2 has the unit mol^2
now equating only the units
an^2/v^2=p
amol^2/m^6=atm
a=atm*m^6mol^-2
HOPE IT HELPS
