Let us consider that the marked price of a product is 100.

Applying 12% discount on it, we get,

(12/ 100) * 100 = 12

New price = 100 - 12 = 88

Applying 20% discount on it, we get,

(20 / 100) * 88= 17.6

Now the new price is = 88 - 17.6= 70.4

Applying 20% discount on it, we get,

(20/ 100) * 70.4 = 14.8

Now the new price = 70.4 - 14.8= 55.6

Applying a single discount of 55.6% on 100, we get,

(55.6 / 100) * 100 = 55.6

New price = 100 - 55.6 = 44.4

Hence the single discount is 44.4%.
