Find the solution of this system of equations -3x-5y=-26,
x-5y=-38

Suppose

-3x-5y=-26.........(1)

x-5y=-38............(2)

Sum(2)×3 is

3x-15y=-114.......(3)

Now, Sum(3)-Sum(1)

3x-15y=-114

-3x-5y=-26

-------------------------

-20y=-140

So,

y=-140/-20

y=7

Put the value of y in Sum(2).

x-5(7)=-38

x-35=-38

x=-38+35

x=-3

so the solution of equations is

(x,y)=(-3,7)
