Answer:

The equation x + 3y = 6 is a linear equation in two variables. So this equation does not have a unique solution. It has infinitely many pairs of solutions. It is so because for every value of x there is a corresponding value of y. Let's take a example. Take x =3 in the equation then the equation becomes,

3 + 3y = 6

3y= 6–3

y = 3/3

y= 1.

Similarly for x = -3

-3 +3y=6, 3y = 6+3, y = 9/3, y =3

Similarly for any other value of x there is a corresponding value of y. So this equation have infinitely many solutions. Some solutions are (3,1) , (-3,3) etc. where the first value in each ordered pair is the value of x and the second value is the corresponding value of y for that value of x.
