Given :–

  • A polynomial, x² – 6x + 5.

To Find :–

  • Sum of the zeroes of the polynomial.
  • Product of the zeros of the polynomial.

Solution :–

We know that,

 \boxed{ \red{ \alpha  +  \beta  =  \dfrac{ - b}{a}} }

And,

 \boxed{\red{ \alpha   \times \beta \:  (\alpha  \beta )= \dfrac{c}{a} }}

So,

According to the question,

  • Value of a = 1.
  • Value of b = –6.
  • Value of c = 5.

Now, we have to find the sum and product of the zeroes of the given polynomial.

• Sum of the zeroes of the polynomial is,

 \dfrac{-(-6)}{1}

Now, open the bracket.

 \dfrac{6}{1}

⟹ 6

• Product of the zeroes of the polynomial is,

 \dfrac{5}{1}

⟹ 5

Hence,

  1. Sum of the zeroes of the given polynomial = 6.
  2. Product of the zeroes of the given polynomial = 5.
