sum of 4-1/ , 4-2/ ,4-3/ ??

SOLUTION -

we know that,

1+2+3+4+...........+n

= n(n+1) /2

and

1+1+1+1+1+........+n = n

here,

sum of 4-1/n ,4-2/n ,4-3/n upto nth term is :

(4+4+4+4+4..............n) + ( -1/n - 2/n ,-3/n)

= 4n - 1/n ×n ( n+1) /2

=4n - (n + 1)2

= [8n - ( n+1)] /2........(1)

By taking L. C. M of equation (1) we get,

= ( 7n - 1) /2

SO THE SUM IS (7n-1) /2
