Sum of the zeroes is 0

Formula:

We consider any quadratic polynomial

f(x) = ax² + bx + c ..... (1)

If α and β be the zeros of f(x), we have

α + β = - b/a

αβ = c/a

Solution:

The given polynomial is (x² - 9)

Now, x² - 9

= x² + 0 * x + (- 9)

Comparing it with equation (1), we can write

p + q = - 0/1 = 0

pq = (- 9)/1 = - 9

where p, q are the zeros of (x² - 9)

Therefore the sum of the zeros of the given quadratic polynomial is 0.
