Given : Different shapes of solids

To Find : surface area and volume of each solid

Solution:

Cone Diamter = 10 yd => radius r = 5 yd

h height = 12 yd

Slant height l = 13 ft

Volume = (1/3)πr²h   = 100π  cubic yard

Surface area = πr² + πrl  = π ( 25 + 65)  = 90π sq yard

Cuboid volume = 2 * 5 * 6  = 60 cubic inches

Surface area = 2 ( 2 * 5 + 2 * 6 + 5 * 6)  =  104 sq inches

cylinder Volume = πr²h  = π(6)²  * 13  = 468 cubic inches

cylinder Surface area= 2πr(r + h )   = 12π(6 + 13)  = 228 sq inches

Example 3 :

Volume =   ( 1/2) * 2.4 * 3.2  * 2  =  7.68 cubic cm

Surface area = 2 ( 1/2) * 2.4 * 3.2  + ( 2.4 + 3.2 + 4) *  2

= 7.68   + 19.2

= 26.88 sq cm
