1 km = 1000 m
Therefore, 1500 m : 300 m :: 300 m : ?
1500/300=300/?
5= 300/?
?=300/5
?=60
Therefore the third proportional is 60 m

09090909: Thank you dear
09090909: But I want third proportion
09090909: It looks fourth
Anonymous: The third proportional is at the forth place because the second one is repeated
Anonymous: It is known as the third proportional only
Anonymous: Kindly refer to your maths notes in the textbook. It will help u to understand better

Dear Student,

● Explaination -

Third proportion = 300√5 m

◆ Explaination -

# Given -

x = 1 km 500 m = 1500 m

y = 300 m

# Solution -

Third proportion of two numbers x and y is given by -

Third proportion = √(xy)

Third proportion = √(1500 × 300)

Third proportion = √450000

Third proportion = √90000 × √5

Third proportion = 300√5 m

Hence, third proportion of 1 km 500 and 300 m is 300√5.

Thanks dear. Hope this helps you...
