Find the third proportional to 1 km 500 m and 300 m.

ANSWER:

1km 500m = 1000m + 500m = 1500m

1500m : 300m :: 300m: ?

Let the unknown value be x

==> 1500/300 = 300/ x

==> 5 = 300/ x

==> x = 300/ 5

==> x = 60

HENCE THE THIRD PROPORTION IS 60.
