Answer:Let the required third proportional be x

∴ 36, 18, x are in continued proportion

⇒ 36 : 18 = 18 : x

⇒ 36x = 18 × 18

⇒ x = (18 × 18)/36

⇒ x = 9

∴ Required proportional = 9

Answer:

Let x be the third proportional

Product of means = Product of extremes

36 : x :: x : 18

x^2 = 36 × 18

x^2 = 648

x = √648

x = 25.45

Third proportional = 25.45
