the area of triangle is 1/2×b×h

We know that, The opposite sides are equal in rectangle

in this figure , AD=EC then ,EC=8cm

the area of triangle BEC=1/2×8×3

the area of triangle BEC=4×3

the area of triangle BEC=12cm²

Then,The area of rectangle ADCE=,l×b

The area of rectangle ADCE=3×8 cm²

The area of rectangle ADCE=24cm²

From equation 1, Area of triangle + Area of rectangle

                        = 12 cm² + 24 cm²

                        = 36 cm²
