x and y are consecutive numbers

then y+1=x or x-1=y  this is 2nd equation

from 1st and 2nd equations

(4/5)x=x-1

4*x=5*x-5

4*x-5*x=-5

-1*x=-5

x=5

large number is 5

small number is 4
