Answer :-

7/2 and 13/4

Given :-

The two numbers are 3 and 4

To find :-

Find the two rational numbers between 3 and 4. ?

Solution :-

Method -1:-

Given two numbers are 3 and 4

We know that

Mean Method :-

The rational number between the two numbers a and b = (a+b)/2

We have a = 3 and b=4

The first rational number

= (3+4)/2

=7/2

and

On taking a = 3 and b = 7/2

The second rational number

=> [3+(7/2)]/2

=> [(6+7)/2]/2

=>( 13/2)/2

=> 13/4

Method -2:-

Given two numbers are 3 and 4

Required rational numbers = 2

On writing the denominator as 2+1 = 3

Now,

3 = 3×(3/3)=(3×3)/3=9/3

4=4×(3/3)=(4×3)/3=12/3

The two rational numbers are 10/3 and 11/3

Answer:-

The two rational numbers are 7/2 and 13/4 (by mean method)

The two rational numbers are 10/3 and 11/3 (by general method)

Used formulae:-

Mean Method :-

The rational number between the two numbers a and b = (a+b)/2
