we know that sum of interior angles of a quadrilateral is 360°
therefore...
100 + 40 + 80 + X =360
220 + X = 360
X = 360 - 220 = 140
also...
X + y = 180 ( linear pair )
140 + y = 180
y = 40

$100 + 80 + 40 + x = 360 .then 220 + x = 360. x = 360 - 220.x = 140.then (x + y) = 180{linear pair} 140 + y = 180 .y = 40.$
