f(x)=x³-ax+b=0

since x-1 is a factor

f(1)=0

1³-a*1+b=0

1-a+b=0

a-b=1  ............................(1)

Now since x-2 is a factor

f(2)=0

2³-a*2+b=0

8-2a+b=0

2a-b=8   ................(2)


Solving (1)&(2)

2a-b-a+b=8-1

a=7

2a-b=8

2*7-b=8

b=14-8

   =6
