find the value of (a-b) when (a+b)=8 and ab=12​

Given .... a+b=8 and ab=12

a. (a + b)2 = a2 + b2 + 2ab

→ a2 + b2 = (a + b)2 - 2ab = (8)2 - 2(12)= 64 - 24 = 40

b. (a - b)2 = a2 + b2 - 2ab = 40 - 2(12) = 40 - 24 = 16

→ a - b = ± 4
