by section formula
P(a/3,2)=x1+x2/2;y1+y2/2
on comparing
a/3=-5-1/2=-6/2=-3
a=-3*3=-9
Answer a =-9 for which point P is mid point.

tanish122: it is wrong there is a\3 bot only 3

given points p(a/3,2) is the midpoint of a point Q(-5,4) and R(-1,0)
now
of point p x = a/3
y=2
the midpoint formula is x=x1+x2/2
x1=-5
x2=-1
fill values a/3=-5-1/2
a/3=-6/2
a/3=-3
a=-9
