Answer:

a = 5

Step-by-step explanation:

using factor and remainder theorm ,

if x + 1 is a fator of zero hence by uaing factor theorm we get the remainder = 0

12x - 2x²+ x + 3a

x + 1 = 0

x = -1

=> 12(-1) - 2(-1)² + (-1) +3a = 0

=> -12 -2 -1 +3a = 0

=> -15 +3a = 0

=> 3a = 15

=> a = 15/3

=> a = 5
