Let f(x)=2x⁴-4x³+ax²-3x-14
If x+1 is a factor of f(x) =0 When x+1=0
then, x=-1
Now putting the value of x in f(x)
f(-1)=0
2x(-1)⁴ + 4 x (-1)³ + a x (-1)² - 3 x (-1) - 14=0
2 - 4 + a + 3 -14= 0
a = 18-5
a = 13. Ans
