$\to (x+2y)+(2x-3y)i +4i = 5$

$\to (x+2y)+(2x-3y)i = 5-4i$

Two complex numbers are equal when their real parts and imaginary parts are equal, so

$\to x+2y =5,\:2x-3y = -4... (1)$

$\to x =5-2y,\:2x-3y = -4$

$\to 2(5-2y)-3y = -4$

$\to 10-4y-3y = -4$

$\to 10+4 = 4y+3y$

$\to 7y = 14$

$\to \bf{y = 2}$

Substituting value of y in first equation of (1)

$\to x+2\times 2 =5$

$\to x+4 =5$

$\to \bf{x = 1}$
