as these points are collinear,they have same slope

A(8,1) and B(k,-4)

slope = y2-y1/x2-x1

= -4-1 / k - 8

= -5 / k -8

B(k,-4) and C( 2,-5)

slope = -5 +4 / 2-k

= -1/ 2-k

Equating both the values of slope

-5/k-8 = -1/ 2-k

-10 + 5k = -k +8

-10 - 8 = -k -5k

-18 = -6 k

k = 3
