Answer

It is given in the question that 2x^2 + kx + 8 = 0i.e., it has equal roots.

So, According to the question,

we get that ,

a = 2

b = k

c = 8

We will find the value of k by puuting the values in quadratic formula,

Quadratic formula = \bold{b^2 - 4ac}

b^2 - 4ac = 0

putting the values in the formula,

k^2 - 4\times 2\times 8 = 0

k^2 - 64 = 0

k^2 = 64

k = \pm\sqrt{64}

k = \pm 8

Therefore, for the value of k as 8 we will get 0 as remainder.

\boxed{\bf{k =\pm 8}}
