kx +2y=5

3x+y=1

k(3)=2

k=2/3

and

-5(1)=k(3)

k=-5/3

Multiply eq 2 with 2

6x+2y=2

Now subtract eq 2 from eq 1

Kx+2y=5

-(6x+2y=2)

(K-6)x=3

Neglect x

K-6=3

K=9
