As 3 is the zero of an equation so it will also satisfy the equation. So put 3 in equation.

x {}^{3}  - 4x {}^{2}  + 2x + k

(3) {}^{3}  - 4(3) {}^{2}  + 2(3) + k = 0

27 - 36 + 6 + k = 0

15 + k = 0

k =  - 15

Thanks
