The value of k for which x=(-2) is the root of the quadratic equation is 2.

SOLUTION :-

the \: quadratic \: equation \: is \\  \\ k {x}^{2}  + x - 6 = 0 \\  \\ x = ( - 2) \: is \: root \: for \: the \: equation\\  \\ so \\  \\ k {( - 2)}^{2}  - 2 - 6 = 0 \\  \\ 4k - 8 = 0 \\  \\ 4k = 8 \\  \\ k =  \frac{8}{4}  = 2 \\  \\ k = 2

After putting x = (-2)

And, k = 2

We get that :-

2 \times  {( - 2)}^{2}  - 2 - 6 \\  \\  = 8 - 8 \\  \\  = 0

Thus,
Value for k is correct as we got the answer as 0 after putting the values of k and x.

Hence,

k = 2
